About

Hi, I'm Michael.

I'm Toronto-born, Vegas-based, and these days I'm designing AI experiences at Netflix. Before that, about a decade making software feel a little more human at Google, Apple, LinkedIn, and eBay.

The thread through all of it is pretty simple: figure out what each person actually needs to see, ground it in something they can trust, and leave them in the driver's seat. That's what personalization and AI design come down to once the stakes get real.

Right now I'm deep in rapid prototyping, shipping prototypes in hours so PMs, engineers, and leadership can react to something real instead of a deck. When I'm not at a screen, I'm on a basketball court, chasing a great iced coffee, or .

Off the clock

Hooping since I could walk.

I've been playing basketball since I was 3 - it's the longest creative practice I've kept up. The court is where I think clearest: reps, rhythm, reading the play, adjusting on the next possession. A lot of how I design comes from there.

How I think

The questions behind the work.

The case studies show what I shipped. This is the part underneath - how I frame problems, make calls under ambiguity, and bring a team along with me.

Most briefs land as a feature request. My job is to figure out what the feature is actually trying to fix. I talk to a handful of users, watch a few real sessions, read support tickets, and sit with the people closest to the data. By the time I open Figma I can usually say the problem out loud in one sentence, and name who loses if we don't solve it. If I can't, I'm not ready to design yet.

Community

Beyond work.

Ways I give back to the design community - sharing what I've learned, judging emerging work, and helping the next wave of designers find their voice.
